Termite Control Services across Melbourne and Victoria
Termites are found in virtually every part of the world. Often known as wood-eating cockroaches, they attack buildings, trees, crops, and plantations. The harshest forms of termites can cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage to domestic and commercial buildings.
On the other hand, species don’t eat wood at all, preferring lichen, dead leaves and grass. Statewide Pest Control can determine which species are infesting your home or business, and whether they need to be treated.
Signs of a termite infestation
If the wooden panels in your home cave in after being knocked or pressed, you probably have an infested home, and you need to act fast! Termites normally attack wood from within, carving out a solid piece of wood and making it hollow while leaving the outer shell intact.
If you discover termites, you should take action quickly by calling Statewide Pest Control. We will inject termite poison or termiticide in various zones in your home. As a permanent measure of protection against infestation, we also use more contemporary baiting systems.
Statewide Pest Control’s Exterra treatment
Exterra is a termite control system that works on an ongoing process of monitoring, baiting, and eliminating termites.
The in-ground method involves stations setup around the building at points near where termites are likely to be foraging in the ground for food. The stations contain non-toxic food made by a timber termites prefer to eat.
When your home is already infested, an above-ground Exterra treatment is the fastest and most effective approach. Stations are installed above ground and filled with bait. Once the termite colony is eliminated, above-ground stations are removed.
Termites are easily detected in the Exterra stations. The unique patented design of Exterra allows us to see termites without disturbing them, to get the best possible result.
Exterra bait
Exterra’s bait is known as Requiem, which is added without disturbing the termites. This is vital to achieve quick and consistent results. Requiem is highly palatable to termites and they readily consume it over timber. It is also very low in toxicity so not harmful to you and your pets.
Termites feed on the Requiem and take it back to the colony where it is fed slowly throughout, until the colony dies. Since the termites die gradually, they do not associate the colony’s demise with the consumption of Requiem. This makes sure that the entire colony is eliminated.
Any remaining Requiem is removed and fresh timbers are placed in the stations so you can have peace of mind that the monitoring is being continued.
Chemical treatment
Chemical barriers work best when they are continuous around the external perimeter of a structure.
Where there is subfloor access for maintenance and inspection, it isn’t necessary to apply chemical to the entire soil area. We will simply apply barriers to all existing stumps, structure walls, water, and waste pipes or any other building to soil connection that could provide for concealed termite access. We will drill concrete slabs and inject chemicals at intervals along internal walls, joins, and external perimeter of the structure.
We have broad termite expertise across Melbourne and Victoria, and depending on your termite infestation, we will determine the most effective course of treatment.
